With an honours degree in Finance and a Masters in Property Studies, both from the University of Cape Town, Mark has been with Blend from inception. Mark’s skills & experience lie in property investment analysis and deal creation. He spearheaded the initial growth of the Johannesburg portfolio and continues to focus on new acquisitions, disposals, developments and the effective running of Blend’s business.

After completing articles at Arthur Andersen in 1995, Jonathan moved to the UK, where he held several positions at high profile investment banks for 4 years. He then joined a start-up company in the healthcare sector before he returned to South Africa at the end of 2002 where he consulted to the manufacturing and retail sector. He joined Retail Africa in 2004, a market leader in shopping center developments. He was responsible for the financial team that looked after and critically evaluated the financial and operational performance of multiple shopping centers before joining Blend in April 2012.

Hashmat Upadhey heads up Blend Property Group’s finance department, ensuring tight control on all financial aspects of the business and the managed property portfolios. After graduating with a B.Com Honours degree, Hashmat spent five years in the banking industry where he learnt the importance of good financial management through both accuracy and compliance. In 1998, he joined Swish Properties as Head of Finance, where he stayed until 2006 when he joined the Epstein brothers to establish Blend.
